After several rock trips, Petzl is obviously getting the spirit of the new climbing generation. Rock competitions got less and less interesting as well for the climbers as for the public. But of course climbers still want to meet, travel, party, simple enjoying climbers society. Most people know that south France is one of the best places in the world for sportclimbing and so is Millau, which is located near the famous Gorge du Tarn. “Rock-spoiled” as this region is, organizers just set up a new sportclimbing crag called Boffi. Routes between 4c and 8c+ garantied pleasure for everyone, no matter what kind of level the climbers had. Instead of competition the best climbers as Chris Sharma, Dani Andrada, Lynn Hill or Tony Lamich found their “ultimativ routes” just between all other areas. Everyone was able to decide, if he prefairs climbing, watching or just chilling out in a little cave with cold drinks.
After some hot but relaxed hours at the rock, people enjoyed a lot of different events in the evening. It was hard beeing part of everything, such as a high jump contest, slide shows, awesome live concerts, or just hanging out in a dj lounge.
As I don´t call myself a pure sportclimber I also tried my best to crank hard at the cliff and after getting used to the rock I was very happy to do my first 8a+ onsight.
